A Granite Bay man was recently arrested after speaking to an under age girl online in the hopes of her becoming his “sex pet,” according to an official press release from the Placer County Sheriff’s Office.
Shawn Michael Roediger, 26 of Granite Bay, was reportedly arrested without incident on the evening of Monday, August 4 without incident. He was booked at the Placer County Jail on charges of attempted lewd and lascivious acts with a child; communicating with a minor for purposes of committing a sexual act; and distributing harmful matter to a minor. His bail was reportedly set at $100,000 and he is currently in custody. His residence has also been reported as Placerville in El Dorado County, though the arrest report lists his home as Granite Bay.
According to Placer County Sheriff, Roediger had placed an online ad on July 29 seeking a sexual relationship with a “young girl” who would be his “sex pet.” A Sheriff’s detective reportedly responded to the ad, posing as a 13-year-old girl, and they corresponded for one week before they proceeded with the arrest.
This incident is the latest in a sting of arrests of men communicating on-line with detectives posing as 13-year-old girls and agreeing to meet up with the adult men who have solicited them.
