Sex Offender Just Released from Prison Caught Contacting Teenager
FRESNO – A man who had just been released from prison after serving time for a sex offense was arrested after he tried to make contact with a 15-year-old girl, according to the Fresno Police Department.
Days after leaving prison, convicted sex offender Mark Orozco, 33, was headed back to jail. He was booked into Fresno County Jail on charges of sending harmful material to a minor, contacting a minor with intent to commit a sexual offense, failure to register as a sex offender and violation of probation.
Orozco’s previous conviction was for lewd acts with a minor and rape.
Police responded to a call from a northwest Fresno home on Wednesday night, where the parents of the teenage girl told officers that they had discovered letters sent to their daughter by Orozco. The letters contained sexually explicit statements. Police also discovered explicit videos and pictures that had been sent to the girls’ social media sites, according to the police department.
The girl was not home when the officer’s visited the home and had been missing since Sunday. She was later found and returned home.
Orozco, who missed an appointment during the week to have an ankle monitor attached, was discovered and arrested before he made contact with the juvenile.
