INGLEWOOD, CA—Inglewood tends to be a typical city with typical criminals, but every now and then someone near Inglewood City Hall gets popped for a plethora of remarkable charges regarding corruption and/or sex.
Noa Francisco Lopez, 45, was picked up by Inglewood Police Department (IPD) officers on Sunday, September 7 just a few minutes after midnight near Inglewood City Hall, which is in the same lot as IPD’s headquarters.
According to a February 10, 2007 story in the L.A. Times, IPD was the target of an FBI sting regarding the department’s officers being involved with prostitution and a possible prostitution ring. The incident was serious enough for the Times to write that “[e]vidence seized by federal agents and local investigators included ‘very detailed ledgers’ that suggested Inglewood officers were receiving sexual favors at the businesses without paying, according to one source close to the investigation.”
In Sunday’s arrest, Lopez was charged with three sex-related charges and one federal charge related to immigration. The IPD charges included lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14 years of age (288(A)PC), continuous sexual abuse against children (288.5(A)PC) and oral copulation with the threat of retaliation (288A(B)(2)PC).
Bail for Lopez was set at $425,000 along with deportation.
