Officers from the Roseville Police Department were able to apprehend a suspected shoplifter and his accomplice after receiving a helpful tip from a citizen, according to an official weekly crime report.
Joshua Barnett Johnson, 34, of Cameron Park was reportedly arrested on suspicion of robbery (taking merchandise from the store by force or fear), burglary (entering the store with the intention of stealing), and other related charges. His suspected accomplice Sara Marie Daniels, 33, of El Dorado Hills, was reportedly arrested on suspicion of robbery, conspiracy, and being an accessory to the crime.
According to Roseville PD, on Sunday, September 21 at about 6 pm, a loss prevention officer had tried to detain a suspected shoplifter outside a store at the Westfield Galleria. The suspect reportedly resisted arrest, punched the staff member in the throat, and ran away.
Officers arrived on the scene and began searching for the suspect. A citizen witness reportedly called the Roseville PD’s dispatch center to report seeing a man run across the street to the Creekside Shopping Center and hide in some tall grass. Thanks to the citizen’s tip, officers reportedly located the suspect and took him into custody.
