Investigators from the San Luis Obispo Sheriff’s Office are searching for door-to-door scammers who allegedly victimized residents at the Templeton Gardens Senior Apartments.
According to the sheriff’s office, they received several reports last week regarding a possible scam that targeted several residents of the Templeton Gardens Senior Apartments in Templeton.
Witnesses told officers several young ladies posing as Templeton High School students were selling magazine subscriptions as a fundraiser for the high school’s athletic programs.
Investigators say seven elderly victims gave the women checks and cash that ranged from five dollars to $300 for a total loss of more than $1,000. Templeton High School confirms it is not conducting this fundraising event. Deputies are on the lookout for two white female suspects.
