Police arrested a Vacaville man and a Fairfield couple after finding them in a van that had been reported as stolen.
Fairfield police received reports around 2:30 pm on October 26 that a carjacking had taken place one hour or so earlier on San Marco Street. The victim reported to police that a woman, who police later identified as Ameriah Carey Sandoval, 23, of Fairfield, forced her way into his van. Allegedly she then threatened him with a pair of scissors, robbed him and stole the vehicle.
As officers were interviewing the victim, another Fairfield police officer spotted the stolen van in Allen Witt Park. Federico Uriel Vargas, 25, of Vacaville and Eduardo Fuentes, 25, of Fairfield were also in the van. Fuentes ran, but police soon caught him. Sandoval and Vargas remained in the van. Police said they were “cooperative” during their arrests.
In searching the van, police found the scissors allegedly used to hijack it along with a sawed-off shotgun.
The three were charged with being felons possessing a firearm Sandoval was also charged with suspicion of carjacking, robbery and violation of her probation. Vargas faces charges of possessing stolen property and Fuentes was also arrested for resisting arrest. The three are currently lodged in the Solano County Jail.
