The assaults on minors took place between 2002-2005
HOLLISTER—San Benito County Sheriff’s Office Investigators arrested a former EMS Specialist Joseph Alvarado, 42, of Hollister on sexual assault charges last Thursday after reports surfaced that he sexually assaulted two teenage boys.
On Thursday, December 11, Detectives with the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office went to his home in regards to the allegations of the sexual assaults. It was reported that they had taken place between 2002 and 2005, and that the ages of the victims were 15 and 17 years old.
Alvarado was an employee of San Benito County and held the position of EMS (Emergency Medical Services) Specialist. He was also very active in the county, and San Benito County Sheriff’s investigators are seeking information from other members in the community who he may have associated with.
With this investigation still ongoing, the Sheriff’s Office is seeking information from other potential victims. This has been a multi-agency investigation that included the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office, The District Attorney’s Office, the FBI and San Jose Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
Alvarado has been booked into the San Benito County Jail and charged with multiple felonies. On Monday, December 15, Alvarado went before a judge and was arraigned on 42 counts of various sexual charges.
