Santa Barbara – Perhaps it’s the unseasonably warm weather or simply the usual holiday influx of attractive female visitors to the area, but detectives of the Santa Barbara Police Department are currently working multiple cases of suspected sexual assault within their jurisdiction.
Prominent among those are violations alleged to have been committed by Aundray Corey Dejon Richey, a 25-year old resident of Santa Barbara whose December 21, 2014 arrest was just made public by Santa Barbara Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Riley Harwood. Harwood’s release of information to county-wide media describes Richey’s arrest and felony booking on charges of kidnapping, false imprisonment, penetration with a foreign object while the victim was unconscious, penetration with a foreign object while the victim was intoxicated, possession of cocaine for sale, and possession of methamphetamine.
According to Harwood, Richey is suspected of committing these crimes several weeks earlier, on December 7th, with his victim that of a 19-year old non-consenting female. Because of the protracted nature of the investigation of the circumstances surrounding that alleged assault, “investigators are concerned that Richey may be responsible for additional unreported crimes,” Harwood reported, “and are seeking contact with any additional victims.” Harwood added that the December 7th events continue to be the focus of intense scrutiny, and “due to the ongoing nature of this investigation additional details are being withheld.”
Given that, Richey is currently in custody at Santa Barbara County Jail, held on $1,000,000 bail while, as Harwood indicated, “anyone with information” is welcome to contact detectives at (805) 897-2346.
