Suspect Was Arrested Last Year For Child Pornography
SANTA CRUZ—A vindictive act has landed 31-year-old Santa Cruz resident Christopher Schuette back behind bars after he faked a Facebook page in the name of the Santa Cruz Police Officer who arrested him last year.
In January of 2014, if you remember we wrote on the arrest of Schuette (Santa Cruz Man Arrested With Child Porn) who was arrested for engaging in child pornography. His bail had been set at 5,000.00 dollars, so he bonded out three days after being arrested.
Fast-forward about a year, in early December 2014, the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office began investigating an Internet based child pornography case involving a Santa Cruz Police Officer. The case came to light because the officer started receiving calls from other police agencies from back east in regards to inappropriate photos posted to a Facebook page in his name.
Detectives with the Sheriff’s office began to investigate the case along with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the San Jose Police Department Internet Crimes against Children. They traced the creation of the Facebook page back to Schuette.
Agents armed with a search warrant went to Schuette’s home on Cabonera Drive in Santa Cruz. They arrested him at the Back Nine Grill & Bar parking lot about a mile from his home. The search warrant produced additional items involving child pornography.
Schuette was transported and booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail. He faces additional charges of distributing child pornography, false impersonation, stalking and committing a felony while released on bond. In both arrests, he reported his occupation as unemployed.
His bail this time has been increased for 275,000.00 dollars
