TAFT — A 25-year-old Ford City man accused of assaulting another man with a skateboard was arrested on Thursday night.
Eriq Cash was booked into the Kern County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon, second degree robbery and resisting arrest.
According to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, Cash was involved in an altercation on the night of January11, in the 300-block of Pierce Street in the Ford City area of Taft.
Upon their arrival deputies said they learned that Cash had been loitering nearby in violation of a domestic violence restraining order.
When he was approached by a 48-year old male and told to leave, Cash hit the victim in the face with a skateboard and then fled.
The victim was transported to Mercy Southwest Hospital in nearby Bakersfield and treated for moderate injuries to his face and head.
On January 15 deputies were given a tip that Cash was in the 700 block of Fillmore Street in Ford City.
When they arrived, deputies said they found Cash, who ran from deputies and Taft Police Department officers before being taken into custody.
During a search of Cash’s backpack, deputies said they found two cell phones, one belonging to the victim of the assault, and various drug paraphernalia.
