San Jose Police seek information identifying bank robbery suspect

SAN JOSE – The San Jose Police Department is asking for information regarding a robbery that occurred on Friday, January 9 at about 11:30 am. According to San Jose Police Officer Albert Morales, “A bank robbery occurred at the US Bank, located inside the Safeway store located at 1530 Hamilton Avenue.” Just before noon a white male suspect entered the bank and demanded money from the bank teller. Morales said, “The unknown suspect entered the bank, brandished a black handgun and demanded cash.”

Morales said, “The suspect is described as a white male adult, 5 feet 7 inches tall, approximately 25-30 years old, light complexion, flat-top style hair cut, wearing black sunglasses with orange frames and blue jeans.”
Video surveillance shows the suspect brandishing a black hand gun and demanding that the teller put an undisclosed amount of cash in a orange tote bag. The suspect can also be seen wearing the distinctive sunglasses. Despite the suspects attempt to hide his identify, video surveillance was able to take clear images of the suspects face. Once the suspect received an undisclosed amount of money the suspect fled on foot. No one was physically hurt during the robbery.

Morales said, “The unidentified suspect fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash, and is still outstanding.”

Persons with information regarding the robbery are urged to contact Detective M. Drago #3889 in the Robbery Unit, San Jose Police Department (408) 277-4166. Persons wishing to remain anonymous may call the Crime Stoppers Tip Line, (408) 947-STOP (7867).
