Oxnard Teen Arrested For Ventura Home Invasion Robbery, Assault
VENTURA – An Oxnard teenager is facing multiple felony charges in Ventura for a violent daytime home invasion robbery that occurred in a quiet neighborhood on the morning of February 4th.
The ordeal began Wednesday morning as the 29 year old male victim, whose name is being withheld, was allegedly tied up and robbed at gunpoint by the suspect, 18 year old Marcos Toscano Robles. The Ventura Police Department says Robles illegally entered the victim’s home and after tying up the victim at gunpoint, gathered items from the residence to steal. Shortly before 8 am, the victim was able to free himself and run outside in an attempt to find help.
The suspect followed the victim into the side yard and as the two struggled, the suspect allegedly shot the victim in the torso/abdomen area. Robles then reportedly stole the victim’s white 2010 Mercedes and fled the scene of the crime. At approximately 7:56 am, the victim was able to call 911, alerting police to the situation and summoning help for his gunshot wound.
The victim was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive. It is unclear as to why this residence in midtown Ventura was targeted but in an interview, VPD Commander Darren Schindler stated that “The victim does not know the suspect.”
Several hours after the crime occurred, the victim’s abandoned vehicle was located in downtown Oxnard and Ventura police were able to identify Marcos Robles as the prime suspect. With the help of the Oxnard PD, surveillance was established on Robles’ home in Oxnard. When the OPD attempted to make contact with Robles as he emerged from the residence, he responded by attempting to flee the area on foot. A K-9 was deployed and officers were then able to apprehend the suspect.
A handgun that Robles allegedly tossed while attempting to flee police was also recovered in Oxnard. Marcos Toscano Robles was booked at the Ventura County Jail for felony kidnapping for robbery, felony home invasion robbery, felony assault with a firearm, felony car jacking and felony first degree residential burglary. He is scheduled to be arraigned today at 1:30 pm with bail set at $750,000.
