Luis Trejo, 29, and 21-year-old Oscar Oliva were booked into the Kern County Jail on numerous weapons violations which included possession of an assault weapon, possession of a firearm and ammunition by a felon, possession of a short barreled rifle and participation in a criminal street gang.
Trejo was also charged with violating his parole.
According to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, the men were arrested at around 10:30 p.m. on February 11 after gang unit deputies made contact with them in the 400 block of Ellington Street in Delano.
As deputies approached the vehicle Oliva and Trejo were standing next to, the pair tried to walk away after deputies saw a gun in the driver’s compartment of the vehicle.
After taking the men into custody, a further search of the vehicle Oliva had been allegedly driving turned up a loaded sawed-off shotgun and a .30 caliber M1 assault rifle with a high capacity magazine.
