SACRAMENTO—An Sacramento man accused of driving drunk and striking a police patrol vehicle on Saturday night, February 14 in Citrus Heights is facing charges of felony evading, hit and run, assault with a deadly weapon and DUI with injuries.
Citrus Heights Police said Edgar Murillo, 22, was driving a car that rear ended a police car at about 9 p.m. on Saturday in the 8000 block of Sunrise Boulevard. The car then struck another vehicle in a head-on collision, then backed into a rock tiller, and crashed into a retaining wall. Once stopped, Murillo was arrested, police said.
The two officers in the patrol car suffered minor injuries, and the two people in the other vehicle that was hit head on complained of unspecified pain.
Citrus Heights Police were kept busy as Valentine’s Day celebrations went into the late night hours. Early Sunday morning, at about 3 am, they pulled over Heidi Rae Hocking, a 35-year-old resident of neighboring Orangevale. She was found to be driving under the influence with an blood alcohol level exceeding .08% when pulled over on Sunrise near Cirby Way, about a mile north of the earlier accident.
