SAN FRANCISCO – March 7th – According to information released by the Ingleside Station, officers Trujillo, Wong, and Chang arrived at the 100 block of Morse Street at approximately 9:00 a.m. in response to a vehicle break-in call. Upon arrival, they found a man, who turned out to be the victim, restraining another man from fleeing the scene.
The victim, in this case a vigilant car owner, had come outside of his residence that morning to find the suspect sleeping in his car. The car owner told officers that upon waking, the suspect pleaded with him, “Sorry! I’m your friend! This is my car, dude!” The suspect then tried to leave, which prompted the owner to restrain him until officers arrived.
Officers searched the suspect, identified as 42-year-old Santos Gonzalez of San Francisco, and found an array of burglary tools used to break into cars. Gonzalez was already on probation for auto theft charges from an arrest on November 19. He was arrested and charged with auto burglary and possession of burglary tools.
