FORD CITY — A 30-year-old Taft man was arrested for allegedly stabbing a young man from Ford City during a fight last Thursday afternoon.
Robert Bright was booked into the Taft City Jail for assault with a deadly weapon.
According to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred at about 2 p.m. on March 26, when deputies, along with officers from the Taft Police Department responded to the call of a stabbing victim who was being treated at a local urgent care.
Upon arrival, deputies said they were able to ascertain that the 17-year-old victim got into an altercation with Bright in front of a home he was visiting in the 300 block of Pierce Street in Ford City.
During the fight, Bright fell to the ground, got up and ran from the area, after allegedly stabbing the victim in the upper, right side of his torso.
The victim was taken to urgent care by friends with non-life threatening injuries.
Later that day, deputies received information that Bright was being chased by a vehicle in the area of Lincoln and San Emidio Streets.
He was taken into custody at his residence in the 600 block of San Emidio Street.
