SOLANA BEACH – On March 23, an unknown man walked onto the campus of Skyline Elementary School just moments after the dismissal bell rang. He confronted a 7-year-old female student, then taped her mouth shut and attempted to carry her off campus to his car. Fortunately the girl struggled wildly and was able to scream for help, which alerted nearby faculty members to the crime. Though the girl was saved, the man escaped and, despite police releasing a composite sketch, he managed to elude capture until yesterday.
On April 1st at approximately 7:30 p.m. 22-year-old Jack Henry Doshay was taken into custody by San Diego County Sheriff’s deputies. Doshay is a local San Diegan who was living with his parents in their Fairbanks Ranch home during the time of the attack. According to the Sheriff’s office, they were able to locate Doshay in the 2500 block of Adelanto Drive in Laguna Niguel thanks to information provided by his attorney.
Doshay is now being held in the Vista jail, charged with cruelty to a child, false imprisonment, violence and kidnapping. Doshay’s arraignment is scheduled for April 3rd at the Vista courthouse at 1:00 p.m. If convicted, Doshay could face a sentence of up to 20 years for the kidnapping charge alone.
The parents of the victim spoke out in an interview when they heard the news. The father, Mike Paeske said: “This guy messed with the wrong girl and the wrong community. We are so proud of our daughter and the way she handled the attack.”
Doshay is reportedly the son of Glenn Doshay, a part owner of the San Diego Padres baseball team.
