The Paso Robles Police are looking for a suspect who allegedly robbed Payless Shoe Source store at gunpoint.
According to the PRPD, they received a call on Sunday around 5 p.m. regarding a report of an armed robbery that had just occurred at the Payless store located on the 100 block of Niblick Road.
When officers arrived, someone reported that a lone, male suspect walked into the store and appeared to employees to be shopping. The suspect did this for a few minutes before approaching the counter. An employee witness said the suspect began to participate in a regular transaction with the employee and then pulled up his shirt to reveal a handgun in his waistband.
The employee said the suspect then demanded money from the employee. The employee complied with the armed robber’s demands and turned over an undisclosed amount of cash to the suspect.
The witnesses said the suspect walked out of the business after taking the money, and fled in a white four-door sedan westbound on Niblick Road. The suspect is described as a white male adult in his 30s, about 5’10” and 240 pounds. He was clean-shaven with blonde-colored hair. He was last seen wearing a white shirt and gray cargo style shorts.
He was later identified as 40-year-old Kelly Shawn Grimm, wanted for a series of robberies in Salinas, Sand City and King City. The license plate number in his white Toyota Camry is 5AJR595.
