SACRAMENTO—Sacramento Police have arrested a local man in the death of a woman earlier this week in a Sacramento hotel room.
Fredrick Raymond Tatum, 52, was charged with physically assaulting April Fowler, 42, at the Quality Inn. It appears that Tatum and Fowler were friends.
On Wednesday, April 8 at approximately 12:36 p.m., police received a call about a possible dead body found in a third-floor room of the Quality Inn on the 3700 block of Northgate Boulevard. Tatum’s caregiver had called police and requested a welfare check on Fowler after becoming suspicious during a brief visit with Tatum at the door of the hotel.
Officers, with help from the Sacramento Fire Department, pronounced Fowler dead at the scene. Tatum, who was in the hotel room, was immediately detained and taken to police headquarters for questioning, and then booked at the Sacramento County Jail for failing to register as a sex offender.
Following a coroner’s report and after working with the Sacramento County Attorney’s Office, police charged Tatum with Fowler’s murder on Friday, April 10.
