Man Arrested Following Standoff With SWAT Team

SACRAMENTO—Following a standoff that involved the Sacramento County Sheriff’s SWAT team on Tuesday, May 12, a man was arrested for allegedly stabbing his sister.

Stefan Franz Sullivan, 52, who lives at a home in the 9000 block of Caldera Way in the Rosemont area with his sister and her family, was taken into custody after surrendering at approximately 4:30 p.m. He was booked into jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and making criminal threats, officials said.

Sheriff’s spokeswoman Sgt. Lisa Bowman said SWAT officers responded and converged on the home Tuesday afternoon following calls that a woman had been stabbed. The suspect’s sister, who sustained stab wounds, was taken to a hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

Sullivan initially refused requests by the SWAT team to come out of the home. He had barricaded himself inside the house and was believed to have had access to a high-powered rifle. Eventually he surrendered to deputies.

Neighboring residents were advised to remain in their homes while SWAT officers worked to establish communication with him.
