HAWTHORNE – What is the benefit of having stolen goods, burglary tools and a variety of illicit substances on hand all at the same time, and yet then being stopped by cops?
Calvin Joseph Moore, 34, was arrested on Sunday, June 7 by Hawthorne police along the 12700 block of Prairie Avenue in Hawthorne. He was charged with several felonies and misdemeanors concerning drugs, stolen property and possession of burglary tools. The felony charges were receiving/possession of known stolen goods (496(A)PC), transporting/selling controlled substances (11379(A)HS), possession of marijuana and/or hashish for sale (11359HS) and possession of controlled narcotic substances for sale (11351HS).
According to the police report, the misdemeanor counts were felony possession of a controlled substance (11377(A)HS), possession of less than 28.5 grams of marijuana (11357(B)HS) and possession of a narcotic controlled substance (11350(A)HS), possession of burglary tools (466PC).
There was also a warrant issued by Hawthorne PD for a failure to appear (853.7PC). He had been arrested on April 3 of last year for possession of a controlled substance for sale. Hawthorne police had also charged hiom with public intoxication in November of 2013, according to police records.
The total bail for all the violations including the warrant came out to $103,500.
