Santa Barbara County – Lyle Mack Alezandre, a 21-year-old resident of Santa Maria, apparently has what might kindly be referred to as problems managing his anger. Either that, or the underage female with whom he was involved in an unidentified dispute has uncanny abilities of irritating the males in her life.
None of those intimate details were provided by Santa Maria Police Department spokesman Lt. Mark Norling as he described to the media the events leading up to Alezandre being arrested in the early evening of Friday, June 19th following “a family dispute”. It was just before 6:00 p.m. that day when a 911 Emergency call alerted authorities to an argument between Alezandre and a female family member, during which he allegedly “assaulted and choked the victim.”
SMPD officers responding to the scene determined that the unnamed victim had sustained physical injuries warranting immediate medical attention, whereupon a paramedic team from American Medical Response was summoned. As the victim was being treated, officers continued their on-scene investigation and learned details of the incident, which involved Alezandre aggressively choking the victim in an apparent attempt to prevent the victim from breathing.
Alezandre was arrested at the scene, a small apartment building in central Santa Maria on Cypress Street, and taken into custody without further incident. Immediately thereafter, he was transported to Santa Barbara County Jail where he was booked on charges of attempted murder. (An official Santa Barbara County booking report listed his name as “Alejandre”, a likely misspelling later corrected.)
