FRESNO – Police arrested a man in central Fresno on Saturday after they found him with a gun and multiple drugs.
Officers with the Fresno Police Department arrested 19-year-old Larry Joyner Jr. of Fresno after they stopped him for riding his bicycle against the flow of traffic at Fresno Street and Thomas Avenue.
Joyner gave the officers a false birth date, but they were able to uncover his true identity. Police learned that Joyner had an active felony warrant for his arrest, authorities said.
After searching Joyner’s backpack, the officers found a .357 revolver, cocaine and marijuana.
Joyner was booked into the Fresno County Jail on several weapons possession and drug possession charges, according to authorities. Joyner told police that he is a west Fresno gang member, authorities said.
Joyner is a prior convicted felon who is not allowed to possess or own a gun, police said. Past records show that he was pulled over by Merced area Highway Patrol on April 3 for speeding in excess of 100 miles per hour. He was found to be carrying a loaded firearm and ammunition as an already convicted felon. He was also in possession of alcohol as an under-aged person, along with a narcotic controlled substance. He was charged with petty theft in that incident as well.
