HEMET – A burglary suspect who’s believed to be responsible for numerous robberies in the Anza area was arrested on Friday.
After numerous robberies in Anza, a community southeast of Hemet off Highway 371, resulted in a dramatic spike in crime, the Riverside County Sheriff increased its presence with a larger number of patrols and the ability to respond more rapidly to calls. Sheriff’s S.W.A.T. Team, the Sheriff’s Aviation Unit and the Hemet Station Detective Bureau assisted in attempting to mitigate the problem.
When dispatch receive a call on Friday, July 17 at 11:31 p.m. that an alarm had been activated at Calvary Chapel in Anza, units were immediately deployed to the scene. Upon investigation, deputies confirmed that the property just been burglarized and began to search the area for a likely suspect.
While canvassing the area, William Robert Cable, a 32-year-old white male from Anza was located and detained several hundred yards east of the location. Cable was reportedly on active parole for prior burglary charges.
While detaining the suspect, deputies confirmed that Cable was in possession of stolen property from the burglarized church. Further investigation identified Cable as the suspect in several recent burglaries within the area.
Cable was arrested for multiple counts of burglary, violation of parole and conspiracy to commit a felony. A bail increase of $100,000 was applied to the parole hold while he was being booked and processed into the Riverside County Jail for his offenses.
