FRESNO – A man wanted on two felony warrants was arrested after he crashed his vehicle into a concrete wall while trying to escape officers.
Police spotted 45-year-old Carlos Campos’s black Nissan Pathfinder parked near a home on Orange and American Avenues around 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Campos was wanted on two outstanding felony warrants, officials said.
When detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office pulled up to the vehicle, Campos and a passenger, 25-year-old Kevin Rodriguez, drove away. The detectives lost track of the SUV, nearly losing the suspects, officials said.
However, when they got to the intersection of American and East avenues, the detectives saw that the SUV had crashed into a nearby concrete wall bordering the canal. They also found Campos near the canal. Rodriguez had tried to run away, but was soon found hiding in a nearby vineyard, officials said.
Deputies searched the vehicle and found a large quantity of metal parts, such as brass valves and agricultural sprinkler parts, which they suspected were stolen.
Both men were arrested at the scene.
