Daycare Was Operating Since 1995 Without the Proper License
HOLLISTER-After a lengthy investigation, detectives from the Hollister Police Department and investigators with the State of California’s Department of Social Services Community Care Licensing Division arrested Alberto Ramirez, along with his wife Josefina, after it was discovered that he had been inappropriately touching children who had been attending their day care facility on Howard Court in Hollister.
Police arrested Alberto on Friday, July 10 after the investigation revealed that he had been committing lewd acts on a child for a number of years, since the facility opened its doors in 1995. Several of the children were undocumented residents of San Benito County. Police theorized that it may have been a tactic of the couple to target undocumented residents because they were unlikely to seek assistance because of their status.
The Hollister Police Department and investigators of the licensing board arrested Alberto’s wife Josefina after it was determined that she failed to comply with board’s request to obtain the necessary licenses to operate a day care facility.
Alberto was taken into custody and booked into the San Benito County Jail on multiple counts of lewd acts with a child and continual sexual abuse of a child. His bail has been set at $600,000.00. Josefina was taken into custody and booked into the San Benito County Jail for also being an accessory to her husband’s crimes.
The Hollister Police Department is asking if there are other victim of the Ramirez’s they are urged to call the Hollister Police Department at 1-831-636-4330
