The Paso Robles Police arrested a local man for child abuse.
According to investigators at PRPD, they were contacted by a social worker on Wednesday at around 7:17 p.m. from San Luis Obispo County Child Welfare Services regarding a child who was being treated for significant injuries at a hospital in the Central Valley town of Madera.
Investigators stated the initial report indicated the two-year-old female child had initially been treated at Twin Cities Community Hospital on Tuesday night before being transferred to the hospital in Madera due to the extent of her injuries.
PRPD detectives responded to Madera and learned that the victim had multiple fractures and other injuries that were inconsistent with the description of events reported by the child’s mother and her live-in boyfriend.
The boyfriend was identified as 27-year-old Paso Robles resident Francisco Javier Chavez. Because of the results of the investigation, Chavez was arrested for felony child abuse. Chavez was transported back to the PRPD and later booked into the SLO County Jail.
