Stabbing Victim Also a Suspect in Robbery

SACRAMENTO—A teen who died on Sunday morning, August 9 in front of a residence, was also a suspect in a home invasion robbery that had just occurred.

According to the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department, Kaveon Plummer-Lee, 19, drove his car to a home on the 6400 block of Channing Drive in North Highlands. At about 11:45, he pulled up behind the car of a woman he knew, got out and told her he had been shot and to call 911 before collapsing.  Responding detectives attempted to resuscitate him but he died at the scene.

Detectives said Plummer-Lee had not been shot, but actually stabbed by one of the residents he had attempted to rob. They believe he has been armed with a weapon at the time and that the resident stabbed him in self-defense. The Sheriff’s Department did not release any information about where the home invasion had taken place, or the identity of the person who stabbed Plummer-Lee.

The findings of this investigation have been forwarded to the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office, who will be responsible for any decisions regarding the filing of criminal charges associated with this event.
