In the early morning of Sunday, August 16th at around 3:30 a.m., a fatal stabbing occurred on the 900 block of Las Rosas Drive in West Covina.
The first officer that arrived at the scene found the victim lying on the floor with a stab wound, and the officer instantly proceeded to perform CPR on the helpless victim.
Soon after, the paramedics arrived and the victim, identified as Joey Alfred Jimenez, 49, was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect was arrested immediately at the scene with no resistance. Other family members were in the residence during the stabbing, but nobody else was physically harmed.
The suspect was identified as Maverick Jacob Jimenez, 20, who happens to be the son of the deceased victim. He is being held in lieu of a $1 million bail.
The motive for the stabbing is unknown, but the victim and suspect were reportedly to be in an argument prior to the stabbing. Anyone with information is asked to contact West Covina Police at 626-939-8500.
