TEMESCAL VALLEY – Following the reports of a commercial burglary and vehicle theft, authorities discovered stolen goods from multiple crimes.
Deputies from the Riverside Sheriff’s Department investigated the burglary of a business located in the 26000 block of Earthmover Court, in the unincorporated area of Temescal Valley early in the morning on Monday, August 17. The business reported a vehicle and other items were stolen, and valued in excess of $100,000.
The deputies assigned to the crime followed a lead regarding the location of the stolen vehicle and found it unoccupied at an abandoned warehouse several miles away. The vehicle was recovered and returned to the victim.
Later that morning, deputies returned to the abandoned warehouse, where they spotted three men in a vehicle hidden behind the building. The vehicle’s license plate matched a vehicle reported stolen in the city of Riverside several days earlier. Deputies attempted to speak with the suspects in the vehicle, but the occupants fled on foot. The deputies called for backup and a searched for the suspects.
Two of the suspects were located within an hour and both were taken into custody without further incident. Ezequiel Cervantes, age 19 of the city of Fullerton and Andrew Pimienta, age 26 of Riverside were both arrested. The third suspect could not be located and remains at large.
Deputies discovered additional stolen items while processing the scene, including a utility trailer also reported stolen in Riverside. Cervantes and Pimienta were booked at the Southwest Riverside Detention Center. The investigation is ongoing.
