The Madera Department of Corrections announced that they have booked a Nevada man on charges of possession of matter depicting a minor engaged in a sexual act. Though the crime, under penal code 311.11(a) is identified as a felony with punishment of up to a year in jail and a $2500 fine, the report listed his offense as a misdemeanor.
According to the booking report, Warren George Stitt, an 81-year-old retired man living in Mesquite, Nevada, was booked on Friday, August 14 at 11:00 am. He was released on his own recognizance pending his appearance in Madera County Superior Court.
Mesquite, Nevada is on the far eastern border of the state, abutting northwest Arizona along Interstate 15, in the valley below Arizona’s Mt. Bangs and Nevada’s Virgin Peak. The circumstances of his presence in Madera were not released, but it is possible he has family there.
Roberta Renee Stitt, 48, resides in east Madera, in the rural Lake Madera Country Estates area. She was arrested herself in December of last year for driving at an unsafe speed and without a license, possession of a vehicle master key, which is used in vehicle thefts, and two counts of identity theft – unauthorized use of identifying information for personal gain. She was pulled over by Fresno Police on North Blackstone Avenue near Robertito’s Taco Shop at 8:45 pm on Sunday, December 14.
