Orange County Resident Arrested in Vacaville for Firing Gun During Fight
Vacaville Police arrested two Southern California men early Sunday morning after one had fired several rounds from a handgun in downtown Vacaville during a dispute.
According to a press release from Vacaville PD, officers were flagged down early Sunday morning, just before 2 a.m. by witnesses who had seen a man fire off numerous shots in the parking lot behind TJ’s Tavern, a local bar on the 500 block of Main Street. Witnesses provided a description of the subjects and the vehicle they fled in. Officers were able to locate a vehicle matching the description parked in the lot of the Stay America Hotel on Orange Drive. They approached the vehicle and were able to see a handgun underneath the passenger seat.
Officers then waited near the vehicle for the occupants to return. A short time later, one of them, Anthony Pech, 20 of Garden Grove, returned to the vehicle. When officers attempted to talk to Pech, he ran back into the hotel. A foot pursuit began, during which Pech led officers up to the third floor of the hotel, back downstairs, and out the back door, where another officer was waiting. Pech refused numerous orders to stop, so the officer deployed a bean bag round, which struck Pech, disabling him. He was immediately taken into custody.
Officers learned Pech was involved in a verbal altercation behind the bar, at which time the hand gun was discharged into the air. He was arrested on numerous charges, including carrying a loaded handgun, negligent discharge of a weapon, conspiracy, and resisting arrest. He was booked into Solano County Jail. The other suspect, another Orange County man who was at the hotel with Pech, Oscar Medina-Avila, 29 of Anaheim, was also arrested on similar charges, excluding resisting arrest.
