The Paso Robles Police arrested two men on Sunday for possessing stolen property and for probation violations.
According to PRPD, one of their officers was driving through a parking lot near the 2700 block of Black Oak Drive when he observed a 2004 Chevrolet pickup truck, pulling an enclosed utility trailer, without proper licensing.
The officer ran the vehicles through DMV to check on their status. The vehicle plate for both the truck and the trailer came back as stolen. The officer called out for the two suspects because they were attempting to walk away from the vehicles.
The two suspects were Humberto Aguilar Lopez, 32, and Manuel Padilla Jr., 32. During his investigation, the officer discovered Padilla was on felony probation for drug charges. He also discovered the truck contained an excess of $5000 worth of stolen construction tools and equipment.
The officer was able to locate the owner of the stolen construction equipment and return the items at the scene. A search of the truck also revealed a small amount of suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Lopez and Padilla were arrested for felony charges related to receiving stolen property and probation violations. They were transported and booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail.
