SANTA ROSA – The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) issued a community bulletin regarding the arrest of a burglar on Thursday, August 27.
Just before 4 pm the SCSO received a report that two suspects had burglarized a vehicle in the parking lot of the Toys R Us at 2705 Santa Rosa Avenue in Santa Rosa. The owner of the car interrupted the burglary and followed the suspects when they fled the area in a rented vehicle. The victim alerted SCSO of the whereabouts of the suspects as they fled.
Deputy Sal Borusso saw the suspect vehicle northbound on Highway 101 near Hearn Avenue, and attempted a traffic enforcement stop. The suspects did not stop and a pursuit ensued, which went through the downtown streets of Santa Rosa and southbound Highway 101. During the pursuit the suspect vehicle collided with a citizen’s vehicle, causing minor damage, but no injuries.
When speeds of the pursuit on Highway 101 exceeded 100 mph, the SCSO cancelled the pursuit but continued to observe the suspect car from a distance. The suspects exited on Todd Road with deputies on their tails. The fleeing vehicle suffered a flat tire, only slowing the driver as he drove on Todd Road, Standish, Bellevue Avenue and Dutton Meadow, when he collided with a curb at Cass Road. The impact spun the vehicle as deputies positioned their patrol cars to prevent further fleeing. Both occupants were arrested at that point without further incident.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as 24-year-old Jonnie Jay Daniels IV, and he was booked at the Sonoma County Jail in Santa Rosa for conspiracy, burglary, felony evasion, hit and run, and possession of a controlled substance for sale. The passenger, 21-year-old Mark Rafael Gallo was arrested and booked for conspiracy, burglary, and possession of a controlled substance for sale. Both suspects live in Santa Rosa, though Gallow was listed as homeless in the area.
