TAFT — A Taft husband and wife wanted for raping a woman are in jail after being arrested on Wednesday.
John Erdei 48, and his wife, 48-year-old Michelle Erdei were booked into the Kern County Jail on various sexual assault charges, ranging from rape to penetration by a foreign object, as well as administering drugs/intoxicants with the intent to commit a felony, conspiracy, and several open violations of being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a narcotic controlled substance.
According to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, the events leading up to the couple’s arrests began on September 2, when a landlord discovered video files on the Erdei’s computer that showed the couple raping an incoherent adult female.
The landlord called police, who responded to the residence in the 7500 block of Isaac Road in Taft, where the Erdeis had been recently evicted, but had left the computer behind..
Investigators confiscated the computer, and after inspection were able to identify and locate the incoherent female, who told them she had in fact been raped.
On October 12, investigators served a search warrant at home located in the 29300 block of Highway 178 in Onyx near Lake Isabella, where the Erdeis were currently residing, and they were taken into custody without incident.
During their search, investigators said they found several firearms and two bindles containing suspected heroin.
