SANTA CRUZ—The creation of a new specialized enforcement team was done to help in the suppression of crimes of violence, gangs and drug in the neighborhoods of Santa Cruz, hence the name NET (Neighborhood Enforcement Team).
This specialized team was working an investigation into drug sales and stolen property coming from an apartment complex in the 300 block of Ocean Street in Santa Cruz. On Monday, October 5, the team served three search warrants as a result of that investigation.
Three residents were taken into custody as a result of the search warrants. 23-year-old Misael Lavera Mijia was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and heroin for sale. He was also charged with child endangerment. 32-year-old Inocensio Cavero Maldonado, was also arrested for possession of methamphetamine for sale and child endangerment.
The third man arrested, who was in the unit next door, was 58-year-old Jose Dolores Rodriquez-Becerra, charged with possession and sales of methamphetamine.
This drug arrest was a successful one, as the operation produced bindles of meth and heroin packaged for sale. These drugs are now off the streets of Santa Cruz, and agents also seized a variety of stolen property as well.
