ELK GROVE—A man has been arrested after breaking into a house in Elk Grove and holding the victim at knifepoint.
Brandon Smith, 28, was arrested on multiple charges after entering a residence on the 8900 block of Haflinger Way through a sliding glass door on Wednesday night. Elk Grove Police said he grabbed a knife and waved it around, threatening harm to both himself and others.
He also held a 38-year-old woman at knifepoint, but during the confrontation, she was able to grab Smith by the wrist and shake the knife from his hand.
A 15-year-old boy and another person in the home attempted to bring Smith to the ground. However, during the tussle, Smith hit the teenager in the head several times with a ceramic pot.
When officers arrived they detained Smith in a restraint system. The 15-year-old victim was treated at a nearby hospital for his injuries.
Records revealed that Smith has an outstanding arrest warrant. A Sacramento area transient, he has been arrested at least four times this year on charges of disorderly conduct – public intoxication.
Earlier this year, on March 11 while possibly living at a home in North Highlands, he was arrested on domestic violence charges of inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or co-habitant, and battery. (Details of the location and victim were not released.) And in August of last year, while living at a home in Elk Grove near Morse Park, he was charged with possession of a controlled substance, and vandalism. His residence then is about a mile from the home he invaded Wednesday night.
He is being held on charges of false imprisonment, assault with a deadly weapon, child endangerment, criminal threats, and burglary. He is being held on a $100,000 bail.
