The incriminating Facebook photo
FRESNO – A Parkside Bulldog gang member was arrested Saturday after police say they discovered a loaded handgun in his bedroom during a probation search.
Officers arrested 30-year-old Gabriel Rabara on Saturday following the probation check at 1652 North Sixth Street in central Fresno.
During a search of the home, police located a .25-caliber handgun and a loaded magazine in Rabara’s bedroom, as well as a speed loader for a revolver and a small digital scale, according to authorities.
Police said the weapons discovered during the search matched those seen in a photo Rabara allegedly posted on Facebook, which featured weapons and a large sum of money.
Rabara, who is prohibited from having weapons because of previous felony convictions, told police he did not know the gun was in the house.
He was arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail for illegal possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and gang member in possession of a firearm.
Rabara’s history with the law, according to available records, goes back to 2005 when he was 20, and arrested for driving on a suspended license. And in May of 2006 he was caught in a hit-and-run causing injury or death, reckless evading of police, resisting arrest, and his suspended license.
Two years later, in January of 2008, he was charged with contempt of court – disobeying a court order. In December of that year he was charged with driving under the influence, and in August of 2009 driving on his suspended license.
In September of 2009 he was arrested on a domestic violence charge – inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or co-habitant. And more recently, in February of 2013, he was arrested for vehicle theft and possession of stolen property.
