A man suspected of shoplifting shaving razors stabbed three WinCo employees, and then escaped when he was confronted by store staff as he attempted to leave the store on Thursday night, according to Pittsburg police. Anthony Jaramillo, 34, was later identified as the prime suspect in the assault.
Two of the workers were stabbed in the forearm and the other was stabbed in the back. They were taken to a hospital and are expected to survive.
At 8:20 p.m. officers were called to the WinCo Foods on 2400 North Park Blvd. for a report of a stabbing.
According to police, the suspect had entered the store and took a package of shaving razors from a shelf. As he reached the exit he was stopped by five employees, including a security guard. The confrontation became physical, and the suspect stabbed the guard and two other workers with a medium-sized knife.
The suspect fled the store before officers arrived, according to police.
Several officers, police K9s, and a helicopter were called to the area to search for the suspect but were unable to locate him, police said.
A surveillance photo provided by police shows the suspect wearing a black Chicago White Sox baseball cap and a white t-shirt. He also had a gray messenger bag over his left shoulder.
