TEHACHAPI — Five people were arrested on Monday during a routine probation search in Tehachapi, after deputies discovered about an ounce of methamphetamine hidden in a jar of jelly beans.
Cody White, 24, was booked on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of sales, and 35-year-old Cynthia Aguirre on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine.
Three other adults were arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance.
According to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, the arrests took place on October 26, when deputies forced entry into an apartment on the 21200 block of Golden Hills Boulevard in central Tehachapi.
Deputies said they heard the suspects trying to destroy evidence after they entered the apartment, but were able recover some of the drugs before they were destroyed.
During the scurry, deputies said they found a man and woman trying to flush illegal drugs down the toilet. They also located methamphetamine and glass pipes used to smoke meth in a woman’s purse.
Deputies also said they found a scale and packaging material used in the sale of methamphetamine.
