The PlayFair Market at 1030 South Union Avenue
BAKERSFIELD — A 52-year-old man suspected of robbing another man at knifepoint outside a Bakersfield market back in September was arrested on Thursday.
Henry Harlston was booked into to the Kern County Jail where he is awaiting arraignment on charges of robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, three counts of assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a controlled substance.
According to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, Harlston, together with an unidentified Hispanic man, allegedly attacked another man with a wooden stick and a knife and tried to rob him outside of the Play Fair Market located at 1030 South Union Avenue in Bakersfield, at around 7:45 p.m. on September 23.
Deputies said that during the robbery, the victim sustained major head and facial injuries and was later treated at Kern Medical Center.
Harlston was taken into custody by detectives who had been looking for him at around 10:45 a.m. on November 5, in the general area of where the crime occurred in the 1000 block of South Union Avenue. His accomplice is still wanted.
Harlston was also arrested on October 12 and April 23 of this year for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
