Suspect in Home Invasion Dies of Wounds Inflicted by Home Owner

LAKE ELSINORE- Authorities confirmed that a suspect in a botched home invasion died of wounds reportedly received during the crime, and two other suspects were arrested following an investigation.
After a homeowner called police dispatch reporting that he had shot at suspects who had entered his home Saturday, November 7 at approximately 11:35 pm, officers from the Lake Elsinore Police Department arrived to investigate. The attempted robbery took place on the 53000 block of Beales Street, in Lake Elsinore.
The suspects had fled the scene when officers arrived, but while investigating the incident, officers located evidence that suggested that one had been struck by gunfire. After checking local hospitals, the police were able to confirm that a subject injured during the shooting was transported by the two outstanding suspects to a Riverside area hospital. The wounded suspect succumbed to his injuries while at the hospital.
After confirmation of the suspect’s death, the Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit responded to the scene and assumed the investigation with assistance from Lake Elsinore Station personnel. According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Department, investigators were able to confirm that the decedent and his two partners targeted the residence on Beales Street for a home invasion robbery, which was thwarted when the homeowner confronted the robbers with a handgun and shot one of his reported assailants.
Two males, 21-year-old, Jose Pacheco and 21-year-old, Oscar Bustos, both of Bakersfield, were arrested for home invasion robbery. A third individual, 45-year-old, Elisaldo Martinez of Lake Elsinore was also arrested for an outstanding felony warrant with the two suspects. The three men were transported to the Southwest Detention Center. This investigation is ongoing and the decedent’s name is being withheld pending positive identification and notification of the next of kin.
