Running into an old “friend” may make things too dangerous to shop
An assault at the Dollar Tree led to the arrest of a San Jose woman
With Black Friday just around the corner, you can anticipate fights to break out, and even serious injuries when dozens of people try to fight their way to popular items within a store. But in one incident, an argument spiraled out of control when two known acquaintances ran into each other while shopping.
19 year-old Keeyale Jackson was arrested after a February 5 incident for assault & battery, and robbery, when Jackson was shopping at the Dollar Tree Store on North Capitol Avenue in San Jose. An argument broke out between her and a known associate.
According to court records, the victim knew the female suspect, and they had a history of fighting. When she was walking through the store, Jackson began to follow her as if taunting her.
It was then the victim confronted the suspect, but before the victim could react to the situation, Jackson yelled, “You crack baby.” She then picked up a pack of batteries and tried to throw it at the female victim. She moved out of the way and was not hit. Jackson had several friends with her, and a statement made by a witness describes one of them saying, “Why are you talking to her, I thought you were going to kick her ass.”
Jackson soon left the store after hitting the victim with a garbage retrieval tool. The object was lightweight and did not cause any injury. However, the victim felt that she was injured and wanted to press charges.
Suspect Jackson had fled with the others. The female victim was able to identify Jackson and gave police her information in which to arrest her.
Jackson was later located at Independence High School on February 13, and booked into the Santa Clara Main Jail for the offences, and released on an Ordered Release allowing her to remain out of custody until sentencing. The next court date for these charges will be held on Jan 14 at 1:30 in Dept 38 of the San Jose Hall of Justice.
In the mean time, Jackson was booked on May 23 on charges of pandering and human trafficking of a minor victim. She was arrested at 2:30 am near the corner of Willow and Mastic Streets, a mixed residential and commercial district near Washington Elementary School in south-central San Jose. Bail for that offense was set at $75,000. Earlier records also show an arrest for burglary in October of 2014. Further details of those incidents were not available.
