Rudolfo Navarro surveillance photo
BAKERSFIELD — A man and woman wanted in connection with a string of Kern County gas station robberies are behind bars today, thanks to a surveillance photo.
Rudolfo Navarro (35) of Bakersfield and Annie Qualls (29) of Fillmore, were booked into the Kern County Jail for multiple counts of robbery and conspiracy.
According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the couple was taken into custody on December 10, at around 10:30 a.m.
“A photo taken during a December 9th robbery of a Chevron station on Taft Highway helped one of our officers identify the suspect vehicle near Panama Lane and Wible Road on Thursday morning,” Public Information Officer Gary Carruesco said. “A stop was made and the occupants were found to match the description of both suspects in the surveillance photos.”
Police also said that a subsequent search of the suspect’s vehicle revealed evidence related to several previous robberies and included two “realistic” looking BB style pistols.
Navarro and Qualls are suspected by investigators to be wanted in connection to a total of 10 robberies that have occurred over the last few months in and around Bakersfield.
“The suspects were identified by several robbery victims from different locations during a lineup,” Carruesco said.
Navarro is no stranger to the criminal justice system. He pled guilty to charges of assault with a deadly weapon and terrorists threats in October of 2014.
He served 180 days in jail and was currently serving a three-year summary probation term.
