Suspect in Custody for Fatal Shooting at Sacramento International Airport

SACRAMENTO—A Sacramento man, suspected of fatally shooting an acquaintance last month near the Sacramento International Airport, was taken into custody on Wednesday, December 16, 2015.

Detectives arrested Scot Sequeira, 28, of Sacramento in Newman, a town in Stanislaus County, for the murder of Matthew Caquelin, 26, of Sacramento.

Caquelin’s body was found at approximately 7:15 a.m. on November 25 by a fiber-optics work crew driving by a field near West Elverta Road, east of Metro Air Parkway, between Interstate 5 and Highway 99. He had been shot multiple times in his upper torso.

Police believe the two men were acquaintances. Investigators are still trying to determine what led up to the shooting. No motive has been determined.

Sequiera was booked into Sacramento County Jail and is ineligible for bail. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department at (916) 874-5115.
