Burger King on Mono Way
SONORA — At about 9:50 p.m. on December 20th, a male subject entered the Burger King on Mono Way and rushed to the counter with his hand in his pocket, demanding cash.
When the employee opened register, the suspect jumped over the counter and proceeded to put the cash in a plastic bag, then ordered to have the safe opened. The employee explained that they did not have the combination, so the suspect instead demanded the money from the drive-thru register.
During this time, customers came into the store and the suspect fled.
Deputies canvassed the area but were not able to locate the suspect, who remains at large. He is described as white and in his mid-20s wearing black pants with a camouflaged bandana across his face.
Video surveillance will be reviewed for further investigation. Anyone with information regarding the suspect or incident is strongly encouraged to call the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office at 209-533-5815.
