A Roseville woman has been arrested in connection with a car burglary that occurred on December 27th in a parking lot outside a Roseville fitness center.
According to the Roseville Police Department, officers responded to call at about 2:45 PM regarding a vehicle break-in at the 2500 block of Eureka Road. When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered a vehicle’s window had been smashed and a woman’s purse had been stolen, along with the bank cards inside.
The suspect wasted no time — within minutes, the cards were being used at nearby stores.
Officers immediately began tracing the cards, starting with the stores they were used at and were able to quickly identify a suspect.
On December 28, Roseville Police served a search warrant at the suspect’s apartment and located most of the stolen property.
34-year-old Helen Marie Meza of Roseville was arrested on charges including identity theft, suspicion of burglary, and related charges. She was transported to the Placer County Jail and held on $40,000 bail.
Roseville Police would like to stress the importance of not leaving valuable items, such as credit cards or a driver’s license, in your unintended vehicle at any time. Thieves often target cars in fitness centers and shopping malls and unfortunately most car break-ins are not solved.
