Michael Parfitt (L) and Danielle Barba (R)
Two adults were arrested January 6th for stealing packages off porches in Roseville thanks to the quick action of a neighbor.
The incident occurred on Wheat Court shortly after 3:00 p.m., when a Roseville resident reported seeing someone steal a package off her neighbor’s porch. The caller, along with other neighbors, were able to provide the dispatcher with a description of the thieves and their car.
Within a few minutes, a Roseville police officer who’d been patrolling nearby spotted the suspect’s car on Pleasant Grove and Fiddyment Road. Officers discovered the suspects were on probation and conducted a probation search of the vehicle. Inside the car, officers found stolen property belonging to the victim on Wheat Court, along with other stolen items.
Arrested were 31-year-old Michael Allard Parfitt of Sacramento and 28-year-old Danielle Barba of Citrus Heights. Both were charged with possession of stolen property and suspicion of petty theft. Parfitt was also charged with possession of meth.
According to Roseville Police, “porch pirates” drive around neighborhoods and look for delivered packages to steal off porches. It’s especially common around the holidays when an increase in deliveries occurs. Fortunately, in this incident, the porch pirates did not get away with the stolen loot. But in other cases, the thieves are not caught.
Roseville Police want to remind residents to use a company’s scheduling and tracking service to have packages delivered that require a signature.
