LAKE ISABELLA — A 28-year-old Lake Isabella man was arrested on Thursday of last week after being accused of possessing child pornography.
Joseph Barton-Mete, was booked into the Kern County Jail for possession of matter depicting minor engaged in sexual conduct. He is being held on $200,000 bail.
According to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, the nearly two-year-long investigation into allegations that Barton-Mete was in possession of child pornography, began back in December 2014.
During their investigation deputies said they were able to gather enough evidence to obtain a search warrant for Barton-Mete’s residence, which they executed in late 2015, seizing computers from the home.
Authorities said that the computers were sent to the FBI to be analyzed, and on January 7, they were notified by agents that numerous videos depicting child pornography had been located on a computer which had been seized.
Later that day deputies obtained an arrest warrant for Barton-Mete and took him into custody without incident.
