Nikasia James and Dorian Powell
SAN BERNARDINO – Police are seeking the girlfriend as a “person of interest” in the stabbing death of a 21-year-old man early Monday morning.
The girlfriend of Dorian Powell, of San Bernardino, is being sought in this case. Nikasia James, 18, was called a person of interest by police, who noted the attack on social media.
When police arrived, they found Powell suffering from injuries usually related to stabbing cases.
Medical aid pronounced Powell dead at the Highland Club Apartments, located at 2085 North Central Ave. during the early hours of Monday morning. Lt. Rich Lawhead said police received a call at 2:35 a.m. about a “call of a subject who had reportedly been stabbed by his girlfriend.”
Homicide Detective Brian Lewis and Sgt. Emil Kokesh showed up at the scene and began the investigation which has led to the identification of James.
“Nikasia is aware that she is being sought in connection with this homicide,” said Lawhead, who requested the James contact the San Bernardino Police Department “immediately.”
James had issued a social media report that Powell had been beating her, “[he] hit me in the face and we was really fighting and I got the knife and stabbed him … didn’t think I’d hurt him … but he died.”
Investigators said the stabbing appears to be related to a domestic disturbance inside the apartment, said Lawhead, who added, “there are no other known calls or related incidents at the location in the past.” Police reported the death as the third homicide case in San Bernardino this year.
